Laboratories

In all faculties and vocational schools of our university, there are a total of 41 computer laboratories, housing a combined total of 1940 computers. Students have the opportunity to freely utilize these computer laboratories, distributed across all academic units, not only for course-related practical applications but also for other educational purposes.

Laboratories used for education and research activities offer researchers broad application and research possibilities across various disciplines. A total of 225 laboratories and 44 workshops are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and are consistently improved in terms of both physical space and technical infrastructure.

At Mersin Vocational School, the language laboratory provides General English and Professional English courses for students enrolled in various programs.

 

Library

The Library offers a range of services in line with modern librarianship principles. These services include consultation and guidance, lending materials, interlibrary loan and classification. Moreover, the Library provides access to extensive databases that offer full-text access to a wide variety of sources. Additionally, the Library assists in obtaining ISBN and ISSN numbers for university publications, as well as cataloging and indexing them. Furthermore, the Library has 18 computers available on its premises, allowing users to retrieve information and access library resources through the internet.

The library collection consists of 89,600 printed books, 3,897,000 e-books, 44 database subscriptions, 80 subscriptions to printed periodicals, 34,134 e-journals, 3,075 printed theses, 2,000,000 e-theses, and 259 audiobooks.

 

Information Technology Activities

Our university recognizes the indispensability of internet technologies, which have become an integral part of everyday life and the scientific community. With a substantial number of 3,600 computers distributed throughout all campuses and colleges, our university effectively utilizes institutional network facilities and internet resources to their fullest potential.,

Our students and faculty members can benefit from various internet services, including FTP, email, library document scanning systems, and radio services. Through the Student Information System (ÖBS), students have the opportunity to register for courses, update their information, and check their grades online. Faculty members, on the other hand, have capabilities such as approving course registrations and entering grades through the ÖBS. The Personnel Information System (PBS) is a program that allows all university staff to track their personal and position-related information.

Additionally, free wireless internet service is provided within the campus, offering unrestricted internet access to users.

 

Sports Facilities

Mersin University, in addition to its core educational activities, has embraced the responsibility of supporting sports and athletes. This commitment has resulted in numerous successes, both at the national and global levels. The exceptional talents and unwavering determination of our students and faculty members have propelled them to excel in various sports disciplines, such as taekwondo, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, archery, athletics, step, and salsa. Their remarkable achievements have not only brought joy to our community but have also significantly enhanced the recognition and prestige of our university, both domestically and internationally. 

Our current sports facilities encompass indoor sports halls, gymnastics halls, tennis courts, equipped fitness rooms, football, basketball, and volleyball fields, athletics tracks, and an Olympic stadium with a seating capacity of five thousand. Additionally, there are mini-golf areas, recreation zones, and an indoor semi-Olympic swimming pool. These sports facilities provide a conducive environment for extensive participatory sporting and social activities, and they are accessible not only to our students and staff but also to the Mersin city at large.

 

Health Service

The Health Research and Application Center, which was established in 1999 after the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, underwent a name change in 2007 and is now known as the Health Research and Application Center. Situated on the Çiftlikköy Campus of Mersin University, the "Health Research and Application Hospital" is a state-of-the-art facility that encompasses a vast area of 100,000 m² and accommodates 722 beds. The construction of this hospital was successfully completed in May 2014, and since May 20, 2014, it has been diligently providing healthcare services to the community.

The recently established medical facility offers a wide range of outpatient services, with a remarkable capacity of 120 examination and treatment rooms dedicated to 37 different specialties. Moreover, the hospital boasts an impressive total of 18 operating rooms, which encompass 2 delivery rooms, 1 obstetric operating room, and 15 major operating theaters. In addition to these facilities, the hospital also houses a 50-bed emergency service, equipped with 30 beds for adult patients and 20 beds specifically designed for pediatric cases. Furthermore, the hospital provides 131 day care treatment beds, along with radiology units, laboratories, intensive care units, and a resuscitation unit. Patients can also benefit from the hospital's physical therapy and rehabilitation unit, IVF center, chemotherapy unit, angiography center, eye bank, private ward services, nuclear medicine, and an organ tissue transplantation center that specializes in kidney and liver transplants.

In order to improve the quality of service, a cutting-edge MRI device has been implemented. The center for assisted reproductive treatments and the sleep center are both equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of 722 beds, which includes 592 service beds in single and double rooms, a 3-bed convict service, and 127 intensive care beds. These provisions effectively address the healthcare requirements of the residents of Mersin and the surrounding region. 

The center has been designed in accordance with the most recent advancements in technology and science, as well as the demands of a contemporary hospital. It proudly holds the TSE-ISO EN-9001-200 Quality Management System certification, which signifies its commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

 

Cafeteria Services

Every day, across all campuses and units of the university, a regular lunch consisting of four different meals is provided. The meals produced in the central kitchen at the Çiftlikköy Campus are distributed to the faculties, vocational schools, and colleges located in the districts. 

The central kitchen and cafeteria located at the Çiftlikköy Campus provide meal services to an average of 13,000 individuals daily. The cafeteria, holding OHSAS, HACCP, ISO 9001-2000, and TSE Quality Certificates, comprises a total of 9 dining halls with a seating capacity of 1,079. All food production and distribution services are conducted under the supervision of a food engineer, managed by experienced chefs and staff. 

The cafeteria at the Yenişehir Campus, providing meal services to an average of 1,200 individuals daily, operates in a total area of 725 square meters, spread across three separate halls.

In addition to the dining halls, there are various canteens and student cafeterias that can be found on the campuses. The inclusion of a shopping center within the Çiftlikköy Campus, along with amenities like the valley facilities, has greatly enhanced the variety of dining choices by offering cafeterias and restaurants.

 

Accomodation

In Mersin, there are dormitories affiliated with our university, the Credit and Dormitories Institution (Kredi ve Yurtlar Kurumu), and private institutions. In addition to providing breakfast and dinner services, free transportation services to university campuses are available. Within the structure of the Gülnar Vocational School, there is a student dormitory with a capacity of 65 beds.

The male student dormitory affiliated with the Credit and Dormitories Institution is located within the Çiftlikköy Campus, while the female student dormitory is situated adjacent to the Çiftlikköy Campus. In addition to these, during fall and winter months, it is possible for students to rent high-quality and affordable apartments or rooms in holiday resorts. The housing needs of our students have been significantly addressed with the opening of private dormitories as well.

 

Meeting Halls

There are a range of conference and meeting halls with varying capacities that can be utilized for scientific, social, and cultural activities. Apart from the halls within faculties and vocational schools, the rooms located in the Çiftlikköy Campus play a significant role in fulfilling the venue requirements of the city. These spaces cater to the needs of both the university and the local community.

The Prof. Dr. Vural Ülkü Conference Hall, located at the Çiftlikköy Campus, has a seating capacity of 180 and is equipped with a translation room, projector screen, central air conditioning system, and advanced technological facilities.

The Prof. Dr. Uğur Oral Cultural Center, comprising a total of 4 halls, features one conference hall for 407 people, three conference halls for 180 people each, and two exhibition halls for 117 people each. This cultural center, equipped with advanced technological capabilities, has hosted numerous national and international events since its opening.

 The Akdeniz Cultural Center, situated at the Çiftlikköy Campus, has a conference hall with a seating capacity of 1,650, featuring an advanced technological infrastructure.

The amphitheater with a seating capacity of 2,500, located at the Çiftlikköy Central Campus, was inaugurated during the academic year 2001-2002. Serving as a vital asset in revitalizing social life both within our university and the city, the amphitheater has hosted various scientific and cultural events.

 

Applied Nursery and Preschool

The Applied Nursery and Preschool, operating under the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports, creates a practical field for students and provides preschool education for children aged 3-6. Located at both the Çiftlikköy Campus and Yenişehir Campus, the Applied Nursery and Preschool has 6 classrooms, dormitories, a kitchen, and playrooms. With a capacity for 150 students, the Applied Nursery and Preschool prioritizes providing modern education to the children of Mersin University employees and public workers.


Psychological Counseling and Guidance Services

The Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center, operating at Çiftlikköy Campus, is a student service unit within Mersin University that provides psychological counseling and guidance services. The center aims to support our students in their individual, social, educational, and professional development in a comprehensive manner. In parallel, it conducts preventive and developmental activities addressing various issues that may arise during the learning process.

The center plans its activities in line with the priorities of our university and the needs of our students, continuing its effectiveness in the areas of individual psychological counseling, group psychological counseling, and group counseling and guidance. 


Shopping Facilities

The Çiftlikköy Campus boasts a shopping center that effectively caters to the social facility requirements of students and faculty members. Established in 2000, this center encompasses various social spaces, including a bookstore, restaurant, cafeteria, bank, barbershop, stationery store, market, and cinema. It serves as a comprehensive hub, addressing the diverse needs of both the student body and staff members.

Furthermore, PTT branches and ATMs of various banks are available at both Çiftlikköy and Yenişehir campuses. In addition, there is a bank branch located at Çiftlikköy Campus.

 

Transportation

The university ensures that transportation to its campuses is readily available by utilizing a diverse fleet of public transportation vehicles and university-owned vehicles. This comprehensive approach guarantees that students and staff can easily access any of the university's campuses at any given time of the day

Additionally, the shuttle services operating between Çiftlikköy and Yenişehir Campuses offer free transportation services for students and staff. University buses, which operate at regular intervals throughout the day, provide transportation both between the two campuses and within the campus itself.
