Our faculty’s undergraduate students have achieved significant success within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program with their innovative research projects. According to the recent results of the program, two scientific studies prepared by our faculty students, focusing on aquaculture and marine ecosystem conservation, have been granted support by TÜBİTAK.

In the first supported study, an important step was taken to increase productivity in the aquaculture sector. The project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Bozkurt from the Department of Aquaculture of our faculty, is carried out by our undergraduate student Eren Arif Kurt. Titled "Effects of Different Antioxidants (Glutathione, Melatonin, and Vitamin E) on Sperm Quality, DNA Integrity, Fertilization, and Hatching Performance in Short-Term Preservation of Scaled Carp (Cyprinus carpio) Sperm," this research aims to maximize fertilization and hatching performance in carp production through laboratory tests.

Another environment-oriented study accepted from our faculty is being implemented under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Akçay and led by our student Osman Tuna Akıncı. Within the scope of this project, titled "Determination of Nutrient Loads Discharged from the Seyhan River to the Northeastern Mediterranean," nutrient fluxes transported from the Seyhan River basin to the Mediterranean coast will be calculated using scientific methods. Aiming to protect the sensitive structure of the Northeastern Mediterranean, whose open waters show oligotrophic (nutrient-poor) characteristics, the study will provide a baseline for eutrophication (pollution/algal bloom) management plans in the region. Thanks to the research, strategic data necessary for the Mediterranean to achieve Good Environmental Status (GES) criteria will be provided.
