A Sweet Experience At Our University's Gastronomy Workshop: Chocolate Workshop

Students from the Tourism and Hotel Management Program at Mersin University's Vocational School of Social Sciences participated in a productive event supporting practical training on May 25, 2025. The event, led by Department Head Lecturer Dr. Murat Özdamar, along with Lecturers Dr. Yunus Doğan and İbrahim Çakan, featured a workshop titled "Chocolate Making and the Steps to Follow in Production" conducted by Associate Professor Dr. Cevat Ercik, a faculty member of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at the Faculty of Tourism and also the Director of the Vocational School of Social Sciences.

During the workshop, the intricacies of chocolate production were demonstrated practically, and students had the opportunity to prepare various products using different techniques. Gastronomy and Culinary Arts graduate students Osman Arda Saraçoğlu and Pelin Su Aydın also contributed to the event.

In this enjoyable and educational event, students both improved their professional skills and gained industry experience. The prepared products were exhibited at the end of the event and received great acclaim. The event, which emphasized the importance of practical training, indicated that similar initiatives would continue.
