As part of the Earthquake Week (March 1-7), a conference titled "Disinformation During Disaster Periods" was given by Lecturer Dr. Gülten Acar from the Faculty of Communication and the Visual Communication Workshop student community of Fırat University.

The conference addressed topics such as disasters and types of disasters, the purpose and effects of disinformation during disaster periods, the forms in which disinformation occurs, and methods of protection against disinformation. Lecturer Dr. Acar drew attention to the increased exposure of individuals to disinformation during disaster periods due to curiosity and information gaps, emphasizing the importance of official statements, fact-checking platforms, and media literacy in protecting against disinformation.

Following the conference, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Lecturer Dr. Gülten Acar by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Fırat University, Prof. Dr. Süleyman İlaslan.
