The Biology Department Participated in World Wetlands Day Events

In collaboration with the 7th Regional Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, the Biology Department of Mersin University contributed to the awareness events held on February 2nd, World Wetlands Day.

The event, held at Mersin Forum Shopping Mall, highlighted the critical importance of wetlands for biodiversity, the water cycle, and climate balance. Our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hüseyinoğlu, presented a special butterfly collection showcasing the richness of our natural heritage to visitors.

The event emphasized that protecting wetlands, particularly the Göksu Delta, one of Mersin's most important natural treasures, is essentially protecting our future. As the Biology Department, we will continue to protect our wetlands, which are our source of life, and raise public awareness on this issue.
