A presentation was given to students of the Faculty of Education on December 26, 2025, within the framework of the Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center.  The presentation, given by Prof. Dr. Kasım KURT, a faculty member of the Faculty of Science at Mersin University, covered topics such as the definition of radiation, types of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, biological effects, safety and protection methods, and its useful applications in daily life. Units related to radiation, dose concepts, interaction with matter, and biological processes such as LET and DNA damage were discussed. Examples of natural and artificial sources were given, daily exposure routes were explained, and SAR metrics and safety precautions for non-ionizing radiation were clarified. The protection philosophy was summarized with the "ALARA" approach, and various application areas such as medical, industrial, and research were mentioned.  Finally, the RADISA device operating within the Center was introduced by Dr. Şenel ÇOBANER, and its importance and purpose were explained. Furthermore, the radiation values ​​measured at Mersin-Meitam were displayed to the students in real-time.
