On January 6, 2025, the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Coordination Office of Mersin University (MEÜ) held a presentation on Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights for faculty members of the Department of Medical Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Kansu Büyükafşar, Head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology at MEÜ, Prof. Dr. İsmail Ün, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rukiye Nalan Tiftik, and doctoral students.

Prof. Dr. Kansu Büyükafşar, Head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology, stated that numerous patent applications can be made in the field of pharmacology and that the presentation was important in terms of increasing awareness of Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights. Prof. Dr. Büyükafşar also noted that this event would contribute to the commercialization of academic studies and the intellectual property dimension.

During the event, Ramazan Duman provided participants with comprehensive information on patent processes, inventions made in higher education institutions, and Mersin University's patent application and management processes. Duman presented information on potential patent titles in the field of pharmacology, evaluating patent applications in this area through examples, and offered guiding insights to academics and researchers.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and a mutual exchange of views.
