Abdi Kurt, Coordinator of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at Mersin University (MEÜ), participated in the International Conference on Innovation and Commercialization of Research Results (IRC-EXPO 2025), held in Cairo, Egypt, on December 11-12, 2025. Kurt, who successfully represented our unit as a panelist at IRC-EXPO 2025, highlighted the opportunity to showcase the potential of Mersin University and Mersin TTO on an international stage.

At the event, which brought together key players in the global research, innovation, and technology transfer ecosystem, Kurt took part in a critical panel alongside other expert speakers (Hala Barakat, Amro Imam, and Moderator Yasmeen Samy). In the session titled “Breaking the Boundaries of Knowledge: Innovation in the Age of Digital Transformation,” TTO Coordinator Kurt presented Türkiye's, and especially Mersin's, experiences, opportunities, and future vision in the field of innovation to an international audience. The panel discussed current situations and initiatives in the field of innovation, which is the third mission of universities, in addition to education and research.

Noting that Egypt was recently included in the Horizon Europe Program, which provides good opportunities for cooperation, Kurt said that project consortia could be formed as soon as possible. Expressing his satisfaction with the efficiency of the event and representing the TTO, Kurt said, "IRC-EXPO 2025 was an excellent platform for the exchange of information and experience. I had the opportunity to observe global trends firsthand and explain the potential of Mersin University and Mersin TTO. We aim to transform this experience into new collaborations for TTO and our university.”

Kurt also brought along Egemen Sarıaslan, one of the new TTO ambassadors, enabling him to gain international experience.

This participation was an important step that increased Mersin TTO's visibility in the international arena and introduced our region's innovation capacity to the world. The event served as a valuable bridge for global collaborations, technology transfer opportunities, and new market opportunities.
