Academics From Mersin University Participated İn The Tourism Human Resources Summit

The Tourism Human Resources Summit, which addressed structural problems related to human resources in the tourism sector, was held on December 18, 2025, at the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Atatürk Conference Hall. The summit attracted significant interest from academics, public sector representatives, and industry professionals.

The sessions held within the scope of the summit comprehensively evaluated topics such as developing a qualified workforce in tourism, education-employment alignment, working conditions, and professional sustainability. The sessions, which combined academic knowledge with sector experience, offered participants a comprehensive perspective.

Speaking at the summit, Erdem Daşçı, Lecturer at our University's Vocational School of Social Sciences and President of the Tourism Graduates Federation (TMF), emphasized that the issue of human resources in tourism should be addressed within a holistic framework encompassing education, employment, and working conditions. Daşçı stated that strengthening practical training plays a critical role in providing the sector with qualified human resources.

In his remarks, Daşçı also stressed the need for tourism graduates to be more effectively utilized in public institutions and highlighted the necessity of expanding employment opportunities for tourism graduates in the public sector. The summit, realized with the joint contributions of academia, the public and private sectors, presented a strong vision for the future of human-centered tourism.

The Tourism Human Resources Summit concluded with strong messages regarding the creation of a human-centered sector structure, strengthening the education-employment link, and ensuring that tourism graduates are employed in the fields they deserve.
