‘digital Awareness Training’ Was Given To Children On World Children’s Rights Day

As part of a protocol implemented in collaboration with Mersin University and the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, "Digital Awareness Training" was held at the Mersin Probation Branch for children drawn to crime.

The training, delivered by Dr. Pelin Kılınç Özüölmez, a lecturer in the Social Services Program at the Vocational School of Social Sciences, aimed to convey the opportunities and risks of the digital world in a language children can understand. The approximately two-hour training provided information to children on topics such as safe digital use, online privacy, digital footprints, social media behavior, and risks in the gaming ecosystem.

The event was coordinated by Nilay Demirciler Mutlu, a social worker at the Mersin Probation Branch. Throughout the program, interactive activities were conducted, participants exchanged ideas, and examples of developing safe behavior in the digital environment were shared.

At the end of the event, officials from the Probation Branch thanked Pelin Kılınç Özüölmez for her contribution to the training.

It was stated that such studies contribute to children who are pushed into crime using the digital world more consciously, safely and responsibly, and the importance of inter-institutional cooperation was emphasized.
