ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
We are pleased to announce that the Mersin University Faculty of Theology will host the 2nd Student Symposium on Theological Studies.
The symposium aims to encourage undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in social sciences programs to engage in scholarly research within the various fields of Theology.
Participants must complete the Abstract Submission Form available on our website and send it to ilahiyatsempozyumu@mersin.edu.tr by 31 January 2026. Submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Review Committee, and accepted abstracts will be announced on our website at a later date.
The symposium accepts papers authored by undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in social sciences programs. All participants are expected to comply with the deadlines announced in the symposium schedule.
To support applicants, a seminar titled “How to Prepare an Abstract?” will be organized. For those whose abstracts are accepted, an additional seminar—“How to Prepare a Full Paper and Deliver an Academic Presentation?”—will also be provided. Dates for these seminars will be announced on our website.
Participation in the symposium is free of charge.
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
Independent academic work is primarily demonstrated through articles and conference papers. An academic article explains a specific issue, presents a viewpoint, or defends a thesis or hypothesis, and is typically published in scholarly journals. A conference paper, on the other hand, is an academically structured text that presents original scholarly perspectives before an audience of experts at a formally organized symposium or congress.
The scope of this symposium includes scholarly studies prepared by undergraduate and graduate students within the domains of Basic Islamic Sciences, Philosophy and Religious Studies, and Islamic History and Arts.
This symposium aims to provide an academic environment in which students interested in theological studies can present papers in their chosen fields of specialization. Full texts of the papers presented in sessions chaired by faculty members will be published. Thus, the symposium seeks to contribute to the academic community while enabling undergraduate and graduate students to gain experience in preparing and presenting scholarly work.
In line with these objectives, our Faculty will organize the “2nd Student Symposium on Theological Studies” on 20 May 2026 to support emerging scholars and contribute to their academic development.
