THE 182ND ANNIVERSARY OF SCIENTIFIC PHARMACY WAS CELEBRATED ONLINE AS PART OF THE MAY 14TH PHARMACY DAY EVENT
14 May Pharmacy Day Event convened on Friday, May 21, 2021 was attended by the Rector of our University Prof. Ahmet Çamsarı, Mayor of Akdeniz Municipality Pharm. Mustafa Muhammet GÜLTAK, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Necmiye CANACANKATAN, President of the 25th Regional Mersin Chamber of Pharmacists MSc. Pharm. Özgün SAĞIR and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Güney Pharmacy Cooperative Pharm. Tarkan BİR, Erciyes University Faculty of Pharmacy Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Halil TEKİNER presented his speech titled “Milestones of the History of Pharmacy in Turkey from the 19th Century to the Present”.
Rector of our University Prof. Ahmet ÇAMSARI said in his speech: “Pharmacy faculties and pharmacists actually act as an interface between the public and the hospital. They play the most important role in providing this contact, delivering treatments and manipulating them. Due to the prestige and importance of the profession for many years and centuries, it is among the most reliable professions in all surveys and researches. I congratulate all of our pharmacists on May 14, World Pharmacists Physician's Day. I wish it to be auspicious first for our institution and then for our city and our country. Thank you.”
Mayor of Akdeniz Municipality Pharm. Mustafa Muhammet GÜLTAK said that “We celebrate all our pharmacist friends’ Pharmacists Day. In our own region, we use all whatever means are available in the municipal facilities with healthcare professionals and pharmacist friends, and we are trying to make them available. I hope that when we overcome the pandemic, I believe that we will add joyful days to both the city, our pharmacist friends and all our people with the festivals and events we will do in our own region.”
Prof. Necmiye CANACANKATAN, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of our University said that: “I am proud to be a member of a large professional group that has been providing consultancy services in the field of medicine and health with great devotion by putting their lives in the middle since the beginning of the pandemic. As members of the pharmacy profession, which is as old as the history of humanity; As members of the pharmacy profession, which has a deep-rooted accumulation, protecting and improving public health and providing more qualified health services has always been one of our priority goals. I congratulate all our pharmacists who serve with great devotion at every stage from the production of the drug to the delivery of the drug to the patient, who are the closest health consultants of the patients, who carry our profession forward with their efforts and services, all valuable faculty members and our dear students who teach at the Faculties of Pharmacy on May 14th, Pharmacy Day “.
President of the 25th Regional Mersin Chamber of Pharmacists MSc. Pharm. Özgün SAĞIR said that: “We have continued to do our profession, which will exist as long as human beings exist, as before the pandemic, as well as after the pandemic, by being faithful to our oath. I celebrate May 14th Pharmacy Day.”
In his speech, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Güney Pharmacy Cooperative Pharm. Tarkan BİR, said that “There are two professional organizations of the pharmacy profession. One of them is the political professional organization, our pharmacist chambers, and one of them is the economic professional organization, cooperatives. Güney Pharmacy Cooperative is headquartered in Mersin and provides drug distribution services in 11 cities. We also organize trainings for the development of our colleagues. Apart from these, we are in close relations with the universities in our region, especially Mersin University. We have been doing projects together with Mersin University for 20 years. Güney Pharmacy Cooperative is always in an effort to add value to its colleagues. In this context, I congratulate you on May 14th, Pharmacy Day, and I present my love and respect to all of you on behalf of Güney Pharmacy Cooperative.”
Following the opening speeches, the event continued with a presentation titled “Milestones of the History of Pharmacy in Turkey from the 19th Century to the Present” by Assoc. Prof. Halil TEKİNER, the faculty member of Erciyes University Faculty of Pharmacy.
The event, which was attended by faculty members, pharmacists, graduates and students of our Faculty, ended the presentation with best wishes.
