Admission of The Foreign Students to The Undergraduate Programs of Mersin University

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS TO THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2006-2007


In the academic year 2006-2007, Mersin University will accept limited numbers of foreign students to the following faculties and programs .

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Being graduated from schools equal to Turkish High schools .
  • Holding the nationality of a country other than the Republic of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and not having dual nationality rights, one of which is for the countries named above.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION

  • High School Diploma: Notary approved copy of the high school diploma ( either in English or Turkish )

NOTE: During the application procedures, an “Equality Document” of the applicant’s showing that their diploma is equal to those of Turkish High schools will be required; this document is available at the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic or at the Turkish Embassy of the corresponding country.

  • Official Transcript (Document for marks): it shows the subjects and marks of the applicant attained at high school. These official mark documents have to be submitted in a closed envelope, approved by the High school directorate. (If the documents are not in English or Turkish, an approved copy in one of these languages is required as well).
  • Exam Result: the original or approved sample of the exam result (YÖS, SAT I, GCE, ACT, TAWJIH, BACCALAURAT LIBANAIS, INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREAT, ABITUR, GAOKAO, AL-SHAHADA-AL-THANAWIYYA, TCS) to be used for the application.
  • Receipt of bank transfer of the 30 USD application fee: The fee will be paid by Mersin University student social services Mersin University Akbank bank branch, account number: 1817.  This fee won’t pay back.

Note: For application to Faculty of Fine Arts, State Conservatory and School of Physical Education and Sports which accept students with special ability exam, students have to have YÖS or international validity tests results. After Student Affairs Offices first application process, the applicants will apply for faculties, schools and state conservatory. Applicants have to follow the instructions for first process. For adjudication YÖS 2006 guide apply the registrations of the applicants.

EXAM RESULTS
(one of these exam results is required)


YÖS

:

(Examination for Foreign Students) at least 40 standard score of 2005 or 2006 Basic Learning Skills Test of YÖS (For detailed information see 2006 YÖS Guide),

 

SAT I

:

At least 1100 total score and at least 600 score in mathematics

 

GCE

:

At least three A levels one of which is related to the program being applied to (those having A level points)

 

ACT

:

At least 24 points in Mathematics (Math), Science (Science Reasoning) and Composite.

 

TAWJIHI

:

In the Tawjihi examinations given in Jordan and Palestine, a minimum average of 90 points in all courses in the Scientific Stream

 

BACCALAUREAT LIBANAIS

:

With a diploma score of at least 15 in the Scientific Stream

 

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREAT

:

With a diploma score of at least 30

 

ABITUR

:

With a score of at least 4.

 

GAOKAO

:

In the Gaokao examinations given in China Republic a minimum score of 520 over 750 is related from the program being applied to

 

AL-SHAHADA-AL-THANAWIYYA (SYRA)

:

In the AL-Shahada-Al-Thanawiyya (Baccalauréate) examinations given in Syra a minimum score of 190 over 240 is related at Scientific Stream for Engineering and Architecture Faculties, minimum score of 180 is related from the other programs

 

TCS

:

Turk Republics with Turk and Relative Communities Examination score at least 50

 

TEACHING LANGUAGE:
The education language at Mersin University is Turkish. In some of our departments a one year foreign language preparation program is applied.
The candidates applying to departments that have Foreign Language preparation training has to present a Foreign Language Sufficiency Certificate that is approved by Mersin University Foreign Language Higher Education or have to take Preparation Program Exemption Exam.
At the Departments Whose Education Language Is Turkish: Students who are placed according to YÖS exam results; their Turkish level will be determined according to their exam results.
A level                        : Candidate’s sufficient. The student can start his or her education.
B Level                      : Candidate’s Turkish may improve in a short time. The student can start education, but has to attend Turkish courses.
C level                        : Candidate’s Turkish is insufficient. The student can start his or her education only after attending a Turkish course with a 1 year reserved education deserve on condition of a certain registration.
NOTE: The evaluation of the applications and the placement of the applicants are completely under the priority of Mersin University. Mersin University is free to fill the quotas. The insurance of the application conditions do not guarantee the placement of the applicant. The applications will be evaluated by the Rectorate.

Candidates' application documents will be evaluated by the rectorate.
The results of the applications will be informed to each applicant and via internet.
Mersin University will send an acceptance to successful candidates. Candidates have to apply for a “Student Visa” to the nearest Turkish Consulate. These visas are essential for registration to Mersin University and entrance to Turkey.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

  1. High School diploma or evidence of graduation (for high schools abroad an equivalence letter from Ministry of Education of Turkey certifying the equivalency of your diploma to that of a Turkish High School)
  2. University Entrance Examination for Foreign Students (YÖS ) or the result of an examination equivalent to YÖS
  3. The certified copy of the passport from Notary indicates the visa of education (The visa of education can be provided from Turkish embassies of the corresponding country for the international students and from Ministry of Internal Affairs Security General Directorate for students residing in Turkey.)
  4.  Official Transcript including high school courses with grades and certified by the Directorate of the high school graduated should be submitted in closed envelop. (A certified translation to English or to Turkish of the document not in those languages should also be submitted.)  
  5. Permit of residence certified by Security Directorate.
  6. Tuition Fee payment receipt
  7. 12 copies of passport–size photograph of the applicant (i.e. front view and  4.5 cm. by 6 cm. photograph which can easily identify the applicant)
