Department of Medical Biology and Genetics
The department is also involved in preparation, education for the lessons in the graduate and post-graduate programmes of Mersin University Faculty of Medicine and Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences respectively curriculum for the topics of cellular biology, medical genetics, molecular biology in an integrated manner to relate basic biological subject matters with ethiopathogenesis and mechanisms of various medical conditions. Since 2001, the department committed itself to excellence in prenatal and postnatal genetic testing for routine hospital services. These include detection of acquired and constitutional chromosomal and molecular changes both utilizing conventional cytogenetic and molecular methodologies.
