“ A New Notification: Say Stop To Technology Addiction ” Conference Held At Mersin Yahya Günsur Vocational And Technical Anatolian High School
Mersin Yahya Günsur Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School hosted an important awareness event today focusing on technology addiction. The conference titled “A New Notification: Say Stop to Technology Addiction” was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Betül SARI, a member of the Mersin University Addiction Prevention Commission, an academic at the Vocational School of Health Services, and the academic advisor of the Young Green Crescent (Genç Yeşilay) Community.
Throughout the session, students were informed about the safe and risky aspects of internet use, digital footprints, symptoms and risk factors of technology and smartphone addiction, and the psychological and social effects of excessive social media and gaming. They were also offered practical strategies for developing healthy technology-use habits. The conference proceeded in an interactive format, allowing students to reflect on their own digital behaviors while learning methods to prevent dependency.
The Mersin Green Crescent Branch also took part in the event by setting up an information booth at the school. Representatives shared materials with students and teachers, distributed informative brochures, and provided details about the Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM) and its support services related to technology addiction.
At the end of the conference, a Kahoot quiz competition was held, which drew great interest from the students. Gifts were presented to the top three participants. The two-hour event concluded with a flower presentation to Lecturer Dr. Betül SARI by the school administration.
This collaboration between Mersin University and the Green Crescent aims to help young people use the digital world more consciously, safely, and healthily.
