Purpose of the Coordination Office
The purpose of the Coordination Office is to contribute to the creation of sustainable research quality by conducting studies to monitor, evaluate, analyze, and report on the performance of Mersin University in line with its mission, vision, strategic objectives, and goals, thereby increasing its recognition and prestige at the national and international levels.
In this regard, the Coordination Office has the following sub-objectives:
- To provide and process consistent and qualified data with confirmed validity for institutional strategies, administrative processes, and functional decisions,
- To provide fast and secure access to information in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction in the institution's work and operational processes,
- To prevent repetitive data entry, provide access to required data from its source, and carry out the necessary work to support institutional processes,
- To design and ensure the sustainability of online processes to collect and manage data in a single center, To prepare topic- and issue-based reports to enable data-driven decision-making.
Structure of the Coordination Office
The Coordination Office is affiliated with the Rector's Office and consists of a Coordinator appointed by the Rector, two assistant coordinators appointed to assist the Coordinator in their duties, an Advisory Board, Data Analytics and Reporting Office, the Data Management Office, the Rating Office, and Unit Data Officers.
Duties and powers of the Coordination Office
- Developing, reviewing, and updating the university's institutional data protection recommendations and procedures, providing data and reports for use in strategic decisions,
- Coordinating the identification and collection of institutional data within the framework of data management rules and ensuring data quality and security throughout the data life cycle process,
- Establishing data sharing rules for the purpose of developing the required data set and software architecture in accordance with the university's strategic planning and integrated quality management system, Transmitting the data requested by institutions and organizations related to national and international rankings to the relevant institutions and organizations with the approval of the Rector's Office,
- Ensuring the coordination of defining roles and processes within the scope of corporate data responsibility and standardizing processes related to stakeholders who produce or use data,
- Ensuring coordination between relevant units and external stakeholders to provide the necessary data for corporate rating and evaluation management and monitoring
- To coordinate the creation of supporting documents such as standards, guidelines, plans, programs, etc., necessary for providing data management services in university units, and to coordinate training activities,
- To coordinate the taking of necessary measures and making of arrangements in relevant units regarding legislation related to data management and changes in legislation,
- To plan and prepare reports to be submitted to the Rector's Office with the aim of improving the University's position in national and international rankings,
- To meet data and report requests from other University units regarding the objectives and areas of activity of the Coordination Office,
- Organize awareness and information meetings related to the activities carried out,
- Coordinate data protection processes.
