Department of Women's Studies
The Department of Women's Studies, located within the Institute of Social Sciences at Mersin University, was established to conduct scientific research on gender equality, women's rights, feminist theory, and the position of women in social life. The department aims to provide its students with a multifaceted academic perspective by combining theoretical knowledge with applied studies.
Within this scope, three different graduate programs are offered under the Department of Women's Studies:
- Master's Program in Women's Studies (Thesis)
- This program aims to provide in-depth knowledge in the fields of gender, women's movement, women's labor, and women's studies. Students contribute to the field by conducting original research through their thesis work.
- Women's Studies Master's Program (Non-Thesis – Distance Learning)
- This program provides distance learning opportunities for students who continue to work or live in different cities. Courses are conducted online and aim to provide theoretical knowledge and awareness on gender issues.
- Doctoral Program in Gender Studies
- This doctoral-level program allows for in-depth academic studies on gender theories, feminist epistemology, cultural studies, and women's rights. Students are expected to contribute to national and international academic literature by producing original theses.
