History of Foundation: The training of professional staff working in hair and skin care in our country with formal education started at the end of the 80's with the opening of the hairdressing and skin care programs in vocational high schools and the Gazi University Hairdressing Teaching Undergraduate Program within YÖK (The Council of Higher Education)  to train teachers for these programs.The Hairdressing and Skin care programs have been opened within the vocational schools since 2002 with the law numbered 4702, which was accepted on 10-07-2001 as a result of joint studies between the Ministry of National Education and the Higher Education Board, within the scope of the system of transition to vocational  schools without examination.

Mersin University Hair Care and Beauty Services Program was opened in the 2003-2004 academic year as Hairdressing and Skin Care and Beauty Programs, and in the 2009-2010 academic year, the programs were combined under the name of "Hair Care and Beauty Services Program" with the decision of YÖK.

Program Profile: Evening education is a 4-semester associate degree higher education program. Its quota is 50.

Purpose of the Program: It is to train qualified professionals who are contemporary and entrepreneurial, who have adopted the idea of continuous learning in production, have blended art and science, have the technical knowledge and skills sought in the sector, can guide employees in the sector, are responsible and act in accordance with professional ethics.

Department Opportunities: There are skin care, body care, and hairdressing practice workshops. The hairdressing workshop also serves the staff and students of our university. Theoretical lessons are held in classrooms with projectors.

Employment: When our students graduate, they can work in the places listed below, depending on their preferred field;

-In Beauty salons and centers as cosmetologist/body care professional / esthetician

-In women's and men's hairdressing salons as hairdresser

-In Massage salons, thermal hotels, SPA and sports centers as masseur/ masseuse, body care specialist

-On TV channels, theater halls and cinema studios as make-up artist

-At cosmetics sales points as a cosmetic product sales specialist, or they can establish their own workplaces.
