DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ELECTRONICS

Institution Information

Mersin University took a significant step in 2025, in line with its innovative vision and mission to meet the needs of the age. Following a decision by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the "Digital Transformation Electronics" program was officially launched and is preparing to accept students for the first time in the 2025-2026 academic year. The program aims to provide qualified human resources to the sector by focusing on the transformation of electronic technologies in today's rapidly accelerating digitalization. Both industrial collaboration and academic knowledge were prioritized throughout the establishment process, and the curriculum is supported by applied courses at international standards. In this respect, the program aims to provide not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills.

The main aims and objectives of the program are to provide students with theoretical and practical skills in the integration of electronics and digital technologies. By focusing on fundamental topics such as electronic circuit design, digital systems, programmable logic controllers, and microprocessors, it prepares students for today's digital transformation demands. The program enhances students' abilities to design, develop, and manage advanced electronic systems, while also equipping them with expertise in areas such as smart devices and automation technologies. Graduates will be equipped to assume critical roles in various sectors, including industrial automation, healthcare technologies, intelligent transportation systems, and renewable energy. This program aims to provide students with the necessary tools and knowledge to develop proactive and innovative solutions for digital transformation processes.

 Degree Awarded

Digital Transformation Electronics Technician

Level of Qualification

Associate Degree

Admission Requirements

Candidates must hold a high school diploma and have successfully completed the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by ÖSYM, being placed in this program through the national placement system.

Recognition of Prior Learning

A proficiency exam is organized at the beginning of each semester for compulsory Foreign Language courses included in the curriculum.
Students who pass this exam are exempt from the related course.
In addition, newly registered students who have previously completed and passed equivalent courses in another higher education institution may be exempted in accordance with the Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, Article 14.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To be awarded the associate degree in Digital Transformation Electronics, students must:

  • Successfully complete all courses in the curriculum (120 ECTS),
  • Obtain a minimum 2.00 GPA out of 4.00,
  • Successfully complete a 20-working-day compulsory internship.

Program Profile

The Digital Transformation Electronics program provides both theoretical and practical education focusing on industrial digitalization, automation, and intelligent system design.
Students gain knowledge and skills in electronic circuit design, digital systems, microcontrollers, sensor technologies, IoT (Internet of Things), data acquisition, communication systems, automation, and artificial intelligence-supported industrial applications.
The program aims to train technicians capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining smart electronic systems in digital transformation processes.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of this program can work in the production, maintenance, automation, R&D, and data acquisition departments of industrial organizations.
They may be employed in both public and private sectors as industrial automation technicians, electronics maintenance technicians, IoT system technicians, or control system specialists.
They may also establish their own businesses in the field of industrial electronics and automation.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates who successfully complete the associate degree program may continue their education in relevant bachelor's programs such as Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, or Computer Engineering, provided that they achieve a sufficient score in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).

Examination, Assessment and Grading

Students are evaluated through mid-term exams, in-term studies (assignments, projects, seminars, or quizzes), and a final exam for each course.
The final grade is calculated as 40% mid-term + 60% final exam.
All exams are graded on a 100-point scale, and students must score at least 50 points in the final exam to pass.
Grades of AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC are considered successful.
Students are entitled to take make-up exams for the courses they fail at the end of the semester.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must successfully complete all courses corresponding to 120 ECTS, achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00, and complete 20 working days of professional internship.
Students meeting these requirements are awarded the Associate Degree Diploma in Digital Transformation Electronics.

Departmental Facilities

The program has well-equipped Electronics Laboratories, a Sensor and IoT Laboratory, and a Computer-Aided Design and Simulation Laboratory.
Students can also benefit from the facilities of Mersin University Technopark and the Advanced Technology Research and Application Center for their R&D and project activities.
