Quality
OUR MISSION
By conducting education and training within universal values through its highly qualified academic programs, our mission is to cultivate modern, creative, positive, and critical-thinking individuals who are sensitive to nature, aware of cultural values, and committed to the fundamental principles of the Republic of Turkey founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. These individuals will be participatory, productive, and capable of representing their country around the world.
Our aim is to contribute to regional and national development and sustainable growth by presenting the outcomes of scientific studies and research for the benefit of society.
OUR VISION
To become a quality-oriented, inclusive, and internationally recognized university that integrates its students, graduates, employees, and society with lifelong learning through education, knowledge, technology, and art at both national and international levels — while remaining sensitive to social values.
OUR QUALITY POLICY
Our quality policy is to raise highly qualified individuals who are hardworking, loyal to the core values of the Republic, utilize their knowledge and experience for the benefit of humanity, and contribute to society within the light of universal values.
These individuals should be modern, creative, positive-thinking, participatory, and productive, aiming to elevate their country in every field.
We also aim to conduct high-level scientific research, produce knowledge and technology, and contribute to regional and national development and sustainable growth by offering these outputs for the benefit of society.
DISTANCE EDUCATION
Distance education offers a learning environment independent of time and place, helping eliminate inequality of opportunity and providing a more flexible structure. It is also highly dynamic compared to traditional approaches.
Through this method, supported by communication and information technologies, students can follow courses at times and frequencies that suit them, from any location.
A study environment enriched with sound, video, and graphics provides a more permanent and enjoyable learning experience.
In Internet-Based Distance Education, synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (non-real-time) communication can be established between students and instructors. Internet and web technologies ensure effective and reliable communication between individuals.
At Mersin University, distance education was first implemented in technical programs during the 2002–2003 academic year — one of the first examples of its kind in Turkey.
Associate degree programs offered through distance education include Computer Programming, Electronics Technology, Electronic Communication Technology, Pharmacy Services, Health Institutions Management, Forestry and Forest Products, Public Relations, and Occupational Health and Safety.
These programs are equivalent to on-campus programs and follow the same curriculum.
Courses in the two-year, four-semester associate degree programs are conducted online. Students must have access to a personal computer with an internet connection.
According to the Regulation on Distance Education in Higher Education Institutions, midterm, final, and make-up exams are conducted face-to-face under supervision. Internship activities are mandatory in Distance Education Programs.
