Maritime and Port Management

       Mersin; It is a city that focuses on maritime regionally, where activities have begun to become a logistics center, and which carries out one-fifth of Turkey's container handling and one-tenth of all general cargo handling.

        Mersin; While it creates many employment opportunities in the maritime sector with its international port, free zone, maritime and logistics businesses, 321 km coastline and seasonal advantages; There is also a need for qualified and fully equipped seafarer personnel who have knowledge and skills at international standards, love maritime, and have advanced command of foreign languages.

       The established Mersin Logistics Platform is accelerating its work. According to 2008 studies, the implementation of the "Logistics Village" project to be established in the Mersin Region will increase maritime activities in the region. It is expected that the increase in maritime activities and Mersin becoming a "Logistics Base" will cause existing companies to employ more personnel and new companies to be established.

       Mersin Free Zone is the first free zone established in Turkey and the only one with its own docks.

       In the national development plans and programs of the State Planning Organization, it is aimed for Mersin to be the logistics center of Türkiye and the Eastern Mediterranean. In the European Union Transport Network expansion plan, only Mersin and Samsun Ports from Turkey have been accepted to the Maritime Highways Project. 25% of the companies with C2 authorization certificate throughout Türkiye are located in Mersin.

        The aim of the Maritime and Port Management Program is to train personnel to work in maritime-related companies, logistics companies, and relevant public institutions and organizations. In the Maritime and Port management program, basic maritime, economics, maritime law, commercial law, marine meteorology, business management, maritime agency, port management, yachting Courses such as marina management, ship leasing and brokerage, customs legislation, marketing, container transportation and maritime English are taught.

        Students who graduate from the Maritime and Port Management Program can work in maritime businesses, maritime agencies, brokering, forwarding, ship owning and logistics companies, tourism companies serving in the maritime field, marinas and ports. In addition, students graduating from the program will become Yacht Captain (499 GT) trainees on commercial yachts of 15 meters and longer, provided that they successfully complete a total of 3 months of sea training in accordance with an approved internship book and successfully pass the yacht captain qualification exam. ) qualification and certificate and will have the opportunity to work on yachts.
