Our center was established in accordance with the Mersin University Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center Regulation, published in the Official Gazette dated June 7, 2021, and numbered 31504.

Nuclear sciences play a vital role in many fields, including energy production, medicine, industry, agriculture, and the environment. Nuclear energy, in particular, is an environmentally friendly and sustainable energy source with low carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels. Nuclear technologies are also used in radiotherapy and imaging techniques in medicine, making significant contributions to cancer treatment and diagnosis.

At the same time, it is clear that the use of nuclear energy will contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions. Nuclear sciences are crucial for both Türkiye and Mersin to achieve their goals of economic growth, energy independence, and environmental protection. 

In accordance with the regulations of our center, the Mission and Vision values ​​determined by the decision taken at the Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center board meeting on August 19, 2025 are stated below:  Mission  Mersin University Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center (NÜBİMER) operates with the aim of conducting scientific research in the fields of nuclear sciences, radiation safety, and nuclear technologies, developing innovative projects, and supporting knowledge production through interdisciplinary collaborations. The center aims to provide societal benefit through radiation safety training, consultancy services, and applied solutions by collaborating with the public, industry, and academia. Vision NÜBİMER aims to be an application and research center that contributes to a scientifically and technically equipped human resource pool specialized in the field of nuclear sciences and technologies, and supports collaborations between the public, industry, and academia. It continues its work towards becoming a solution-oriented and innovative center with national and international recognition for its work on developing safe and sustainable technologies, adhering to ethical principles.
