Economics Graduate Program
The Department of Economics within The Institute of Social Sciences has been accepting graduate students since 2003-2004 Academic Year. The master of arts program in economics provides a graduate study with dissertation.
The candidates applying to the MA programme should (i) have graduate diplomas from related disciplines, (ii) have sufficiently high scores of ALES (Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam), (iii) be successful in the interview administered by the Department.
The graduate (MA) program in economics major aims to provide qualified economists for different positions in the public and private sectors. The graduates of the program will have developed a variety of skills and techniques that will enhance their employment opportunities in both the private and the public sectors of the economy, including an academic career in higher education institutions. The graduates of the program will have been equipped with the necessary theoretical base for further graduate studies like Ph.D. in economics and business. In the cirruculum of the program, there are compulsory and elective courses available for students to improve and manage their career opportunities further. Thus, the MA program in economics will have endowed students with analytical reasoning skills that will enable them to describe and solve economic problems of the society.
