About the Department
The Department of Mathematics at Mersin University was established within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the 1992-1993 academic year. The primary goal of the department is to train scientists who possess fundamental mathematical knowledge and the ability to think independently, who can anticipate and solve problems, approach problems from different perspectives, and who can conduct research in various areas of mathematics.
Our department has been accepting students since 1993. Our department offers a variety of courses in Analysis, Applied Mathematics, Topology, Geometry, Theory and Functional Analysis of Functions, Differential Equations, Algebra, and Number Theory. Students are taught computer usage and offered programming courses. Students who complete the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science graduate with the title of "Mathematician." Graduates of the Department of Mathematics have a wide range of employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
