Department of Biochemistry

The purpose of biochemistry is to investigate biochemical events in living cells at molecular level. With this aim, structure and metabolism of macromoleculs and regulation of hormonal and enzymatic are taught. Our department provides training since the Faculty of Pharmacy founded. Education at the undergraduate and graduate levels is carried out by 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 1 assistant professors and 1 research assistant worked in our department. Our undergraduate courses include Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Nutritional Biochemistry, Antioxidants and Free Radicals, Biochemical Laboratory Data. The emphasis of our graduate program is on comprehensive research training in our laboratories and also several courses are given about advanced biochemistry, metabolism diseases, signalling patways, hormones, proteins, lipoproteins and recombinant DNA techniques. The objectives of the master and doctorate programs are to provide and develop basic knowledge and laboratory skills in the field of biochemistry and Health Sciences. Our major research facilities include enzymology, oxidative stress, apoptosis, protein chemistry, hemoglobinopathies and molecular biology.
