The mission of our department is:

• to conduct research by following national and international studies in all areas of linguistics;

• to educate academically motivated individuals who are able to:

-        analyse linguistic structures in natural languages, especially Turkish and English, synchronously and diachronically within the framework of all subfields of linguistics;

-        apply linguistic knowledge in interdisciplinary fields;

-        develop original and critical approaches in language teaching environments;

-        follow the developments in the field

-        question the knowledge they have acquired;

-        produce information by using information tools effectively;

-        use English accurately and fluently and produce original studies in linguistics using scientific methods in this language;

-        contribute to linguistics in the context of both Turkish and other languages.

The vision of our department is:

• to be a competent department providing education in Linguistics in Turkey and internationally, with an experienced and scientifically qualified academic staff and a comprehensive program;

• to train researchers who are preferred at the national and international level, who question knowledge, who are creative, open to development, and who are capable of conducting academic research in the field of linguistics;

• to be a pioneering research unit that generates knowledge by following innovations in both education and research, as well as the national and international scientific world.
