Brief History

The Faculty of Engineering at Mersin University was established on July 3, 1992, as one of the six founding faculties of the university. The Faculty began its educational activities in the 1993–1994 academic year by admitting its first students to the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Engineering, and Electrical-Electronics Engineering.

In the following years, the Departments of Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering were established, increasing the total number of departments within the Faculty to ten.

Today, the Faculty operates on the Çiftlikköy Campus of Mersin University, with an indoor area of 25,603 m². It consists of one Administrative Dean’s Building, two Lecture Hall Blocks, and departmental blocks each covering 4,400 m², providing a total of 31 classrooms, 5 computer laboratories, and 76 research laboratories.
