Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
“Mersin University Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering” was established in 1995 in Çiftlikköy campus as a department of the Faculty of Engineering. Our department, which has shown a rapid growth since its establishment, started graduate education in 1996, undergraduate education in 2000 and doctorate education in 2008. Each year, 72 students are admitted to the undergraduate program with MF-4 score and the department graduated its first students in 2004. Since the establishment of the department, the number of projects worked on, the number of graduate students and the number of laboratories have increased steadily. The offices and laboratories that will belong to the department, which is under construction, are planned to meet the development of the department in the coming years.
The main objective of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program is to train well-equipped engineers who access, produce and apply knowledge in electrical, electronic and information technologies for the economic, scientific and technological development of our country and humanity. The main objective of the graduate programs is to deepen the knowledge that the students have received during their undergraduate education, to provide more detailed information according to their areas of interest and to gain proficiency in these subjects and to form the basis for training scientists who will contribute to world science.
Department Self-Duties:
1- Developed in his/her profession and personality; well-equipped and open to research;
2- To educate engineers who can evaluate the theories, practices, thoughts, opinions and techniques existing in the world; who can filter their own thoughts; who can make their own decisions,
3- To bring the curricula up to international standards,
4- Developing relationships with industry, enabling students to deal with real problems in nearby industries at the same time as taking courses,
5- To create scientific connections abroad, to organize national and international conferences, to prepare international publications and conference proceedings.
Program educational objectives:
1- Graduates can work in sectors related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Information Technologies.
2- Graduates can work as full-time researchers in research and development-oriented institutions.
3- Graduates can engage in professional and commercial ventures with innovative ideas.
Although the language of education in our department is Turkish, 30% of the total course credits are also given in English.
Our department carries out its education program in the offices, offices and laboratories on the 1st and 2nd floor of the Faculty of Engineering E-Block and in the classrooms that are shared with other departments of the Faculty of Engineering or used independently.
