Program Outcomes of the Mathematics Education Undergraduate Program (Sequential)

# Program Outcomes (Competencies)

Y1         Knows and explains concepts related to mathematics, establishes and interprets their relationships with other sciences.

Y2         Knows different teaching methods, techniques, and techniques for mathematics subjects, plans, implements, and evaluates lessons, and relates teaching to daily life.

Y3         Explains the curriculum of the field in all its elements, relates it to other programs, and effectively applies appropriate teaching methods based on the learning outcomes in the curriculum.

Y4         Knows the purpose, structure, and functioning of the Turkish National Education System, its historical development, and the relevant teaching profession and legislation. Recognizes classroom management approaches and basic concepts related to education.

Y5         Generates ideas for problematic situations related to mathematics education, develops solutions, and plans research using scientific research methods and techniques.

Y6         Apply the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired in mathematics education in the school environment, in line with the qualifications required for their profession and national, moral, and universal values.

Y7         Recognizes the concepts of measurement and scientific research, develops, implements, and evaluates instructional technologies, materials, and measurement tools appropriate to students' developmental characteristics.

Y8         Explains the processes of human development, learning, and guidance; evaluates the relationship of these processes with student development; and analyzes students' mathematics learning characteristics and difficulties according to their levels.

Y9          Uses appropriate strategies, methods, and techniques by effectively utilizing information and communication technologies in their lessons during the mathematics teaching process.

Y10        Communicates verbally and in writing; uses at least one foreign language effectively to monitor developments in the field and access current information, and develops communication skills with colleagues.

Y11        Knows 21st-century skills (critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation, effective communication, collaboration, etc.), and plans and implements teaching processes to develop these characteristics in students.

Y12        Works individually and/or in groups to understand and explain innovations in mathematics teaching, designs and implements activities, and discusses the results using scientific process skills.

Y13        Knows Atatürk's principles and revolutions and his contributions to the education system; acts as a teacher committed to these principles in their educational approach.

Y14        Is sensitive to culture and arts, embraces universal and social values, respects historical heritage, and develops projects aimed at solving social problems.

Y15        Knows the basic concepts and importance of the sustainable development goals, develops an awareness of these goals, develops a sense of responsibility, attitudes, and values ​​for the achievement of these goals, and plans and implements disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies.

Y16        Acquires an understanding of social, professional, and ethical responsibility.

Science Teaching Undergraduate Program Outcomes (Competencies)

Y1      Knows and explains concepts related to the natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, astronomy, earth science), and interprets the relationships between them.

Y2     Knows different teaching methods and techniques based on the characteristics of science subjects, plans, implements, and evaluates lessons, and extends teaching beyond school boundaries.

Y3     Explains the curriculum of the field in all its elements, relates it to other programs, and effectively applies appropriate teaching methods based on the learning outcomes in the curriculum.

Y4     Knows the purpose, structure, and functioning of the Turkish National Education System, its historical development, and the relevant teaching profession and legislation. Recognizes classroom management approaches and basic concepts related to education.

Y5     Generates ideas for problems related to science education, develops solutions, and plans research using scientific research methods and techniques.

Y6     Applies the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired in science education in the school environment, in line with the qualifications required for their profession and national, moral, and universal values.
