DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES EDUCATION
Mission
As the Department of English Language Teaching, we aim to train English teachers who follow global developments in the field of language teaching and learning, think critically, are innovative, and possess cultural awareness. Our priority is to train individuals who embrace technology-supported solutions in language teaching, in line with academic excellence, ethical responsibility, and pedagogical approaches appropriate to the requirements of the digital age.
Vision
As a leading department in English Language Teaching or English Language Education at the national and international level, we aim to contribute to our field by combining traditional and innovative teaching methods, using technology-supported language education and interdisciplinary research. We envision creating sustainable, effective, and inclusive learning environments in English teaching by training qualified language educators on a global scale.
General Information
The Department of Foreign Languages Education, English Language Teaching, started its activities with 30 students in the 2000-2001 academic year with the opening of the Faculty of Education. In addition to the first degree program, a second degree program was launched in the 2002-2003 academic year with 42 undergraduate students and continued until the 2015-2016 academic year. The program produced its first graduates in the 2003-2004 academic year. In addition to undergraduate graduates, the English Language Teaching Certificate Programs, launched in the 2005-2006 academic year, continue the department's mission of training teachers. Furthermore, our department has Erasmus+, Farabi, and Mevlana Exchange Program Coordination Offices. The Erasmus+ Coordination Office actively facilitates student and faculty exchange within our university. Since 2015, 79 students from our department have gone to different countries for education.
