Infrastructure Facilities
Mersin University Çiftlikköy Campus is located 14 kilometers from the city center and covers an area of approximately 4 million square meters. In addition to the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS), the campus houses many other faculties and schools. Beyond academic activities, the university has various facilities that enable wide participation in social and sports activities for students and academic staff. These facilities include a stadium with a capacity of 5,000 spectators, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, indoor sports halls, gymnastics halls, tennis courts, equipment-based fitness centers, as well as football, basketball, and volleyball fields. Additionally, there are athletics tracks, recreational areas, and a mini-golf course. This diversity encourages students to develop different interests and skills.
Within the campus, there is a cafeteria serving students, along with various canteens and coffee shops. A plaza with cafeterias and restaurants is arranged in the valley area. Furthermore, a PTT branch, an İş Bank branch, and ATMs from various banks are available on campus.
The establishment and operation of student clubs are carried out in accordance with the “Mersin University Student Clubs Establishment and Operation Directive” (See Evidence File: Student Clubs Establishment and Operation Directive). In-kind and financial requests for club activities are met by the Health, Culture, and Sports Department to the extent possible within the university’s resources. In 2024, 103 student clubs organized a total of 330 activities across various categories, reflecting a 94% increase in the number of activities compared to the previous year. As of 2024, the total number of members in student clubs is 14,501. The ratio of students who are members of student clubs to the total student population is 33%, indicating significant participation in social, cultural, and sports activities.
Specifically, in our department, the Economics Club was established on May 15, 2015, and currently has 77 members (See Evidence File: MEU Student Clubs and Membership Numbers). As of 2024, the Economics Club has organized 2 events (See Evidence File: Student Clubs 2024 Activities).
Within the university campus, in addition to serving university staff and students, a 5,000-spectator stadium open to the public includes an Olympic-standard football field and a tartan-surfaced athletics track, one artistic gymnastics hall under the stands, one table tennis hall under the stands, a sand-surfaced beach volleyball court, and a sports center and fitness hall for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
In the Valley Sports Facilities area, there are six clay-surfaced tennis courts, one artificial turf football field, and a four-lane synthetic basketball court. At the Rectorate Physical Education and Sports Facilities area, there are two concrete-surfaced tennis courts, one dance and gymnastics hall, one tarpaulin-covered sports hall, two concrete basketball courts, and one concrete volleyball court. At Indoor Sports Hall No. 2, there is a 500-spectator capacity indoor sports hall (meeting national standards), one student fitness hall, and one staff fitness hall.
The Indoor Swimming Pool area includes a semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool measuring 25 meters in length, 2.5 meters in depth, with a total usable area of 5,500 m², and an animation pool measuring 20 meters in length and 1.5 meters in depth. In the Yenişehir campus, there is also a concrete-surfaced basketball/volleyball court (See Campus Life).
Additionally, through the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Practice and Research Center located on campus, counseling and guidance services are provided to support students in addressing various individual, academic, or social challenges, thereby promoting their multifaceted development (See 2024 Activity Report).
