Student
The Department of International Relations offers a student-centered academic environment focusing on international politics, foreign policy, diplomacy, and global affairs. Each year, all student quotas for our department are fully filled. The quotas for the last three academic years are as follows:
-
2024–2025 Academic Year: 69 students (full)
-
2023–2024 Academic Year: 62 students (full)
-
2022–2023 Academic Year: 62 students (full)
Our department provides students with the opportunity to pursue a minor degree in cooperation with the Departments of Economics and Business Administration, enabling them to gain interdisciplinary academic competence.
As part of our internationalization strategy, the ERASMUS+ learning and internship mobility program is actively implemented in our department. Through Erasmus+, our students have the opportunity to study at various partner universities across Europe, benefiting both academically and culturally by engaging with diverse societies.
Students of our department play an active role in university-wide student communities and have pioneered the establishment of several clubs, which continue to operate under the academic supervision of our faculty members. These student communities founded by International Relations students include:
-
International Relations Society (2022)
-
African Culture and Arts Promotion Society (2024)
-
Civilization Studies Society (2025)
-
Beyazay Society (2025)
These communities organize events on international politics, diplomacy, cultural interaction, global issues, and intellectual discussions, contributing significantly to students’ academic and social development.
Regulations regarding student achievement are outlined in the MEU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination By-Law. Students are graded on a 100-point scale, and a minimum score of 60.00 is required to pass a course. The percentage weights of midterm and final assessments are announced on the Student Information System (ÖBS) within the first two weeks of each semester.
To graduate, students must successfully complete a total of 240 ECTS credits across eight semesters, including both compulsory and elective courses.
The Department of International Relations offers an academically rich, culturally diverse, and internationally connected learning environment for all students.
