  Mission and Vision
       Our mission is to educate highly qualified individuals who are loyal to Atatürk's principles and revolutions, who do not compromise on the principles of secularism and the Republic, who are hardworking, who use their knowledge and experience for the benefit of all humanity, who are beneficial to society, who are modern, creative and positive thinkers in the light of universal values, who are participatory, productive and represent their country all over the world with the values they create, to conduct scientific studies and research at a high level, to produce information and technology, to contribute to regional and national development and sustainable development by presenting its production for the benefit of society.
        Our vision is to contribute to the technological, economic and social development of our country to the level of contemporary civilization in the technological, economic and social fields with the education, training and scientific researches in the light of science.
History
    Mersin University Distance Education Application and Research Centre (MERUZEM) was established in 2002 by the decision of Mersin University Senate dated 01.05.2002 and numbered 2002.03/4 submitted to the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880 on 21.08.2002.
        Since its establishment, it has started to provide technical support and infrastructure services to the distance education associate degree programmes within Mersin Vocational School. MERUZEM was restructured with the second regulation published in 2009 and started to provide services to the units in our university that are engaged in associate and master's degree education and training activities with the distance education method. In addition, it is also involved in multifaceted activities such as providing distance education services for on-campus university common elective courses and presenting formation education materials to users.

Platform and Software (PM): Research and application development on the effectiveness of technologies used in distance education, especially educational intervention methods for these technologies
- Supply, installation, management, security, maintenance and updating of servers
- Providing and/or developing, maintaining and updating the software to be used in distance education
- Informing about the use of software by holding meetings with other coordinatorships
- Developing software projects in co-operation with other coordinatorships
- Ensuring the organisation of the physical environment of the software development unit
- Carries out official correspondence related to the above-mentioned processes.

Content Development and Technopedagogy (CGT): Working in collaboration with the Platform and Software team, conducts research on the use of information systems used in content and distance education to ensure effective teaching and learning, and uses his/her experience to develop educational programmes.
- LMS and live course management
- Course, student and instructor definitions.
- Preparation of training videos
- Creating content development standards and managing the implementation processes, following developments and providing updates
- Providing technical support for LMS, live lectures and content development
- Ensure digital transformation of courses using appropriate tools and processes
- Organising and conducting activities such as meetings, thesis defence, seminar, associate professorship exam etc.
- Ensuring the organization of the physical environment of the content development unit
- Provision, maintenance, management and organization of e-classroom, cubic classroom content development lab, human computer interaction lab etc.
- Conducting official correspondence related to the above-mentioned processes

Online Measurement and Evaluation (OME): Working in co-operation with the Software and Content Development working groups, it carries out research and application studies related to the creation and effectiveness testing of measurement and evaluation systems suitable for specific information systems and contents.
- Organising and conducting measurement and evaluation processes in distance education
- Contributing to the procurement and/or development of online assessment and evaluation software
- Managing test bookshop printing, distribution and collection processes
- Performing exam assignment processes
- Providing technical support for assessment and evaluation processes
- Checking the compliance of the questions with the acquisitions and content
- Contributing to the quality and reliability of exams by using appropriate test development and question preparation techniques
- Generating and implementing solutions for the evaluation of the quality of teaching
- Ensures that the system is updated by following new developments related to assessment and evaluation.
- Carries out official correspondence related to the processes mentioned above.

Management, Promotion and Marketing (MPM): In interaction with the other three working groups, it develops research and applications on how to manage distance education systems and how to develop promotion and marketing strategies.
- In coordination with other units, develop practices related to the promotion and marketing of the distance education unit and its programmes.
- Designing, managing and updating the distance education web page
- Poster, promotional film etc.
- Providing business contacts for providing distance education to different institutions
- Following the project/tender etc. announcements made with distance education and preparing reports on this subject
- Implementing and managing the performance and internal evaluation processes of the distance education unit
- Conducting studies on distance education satisfaction levels
- Managing quality processes in distance education
- Managing distance education in-house evaluation criteria and processes
- Conducting official correspondence related to the above issues
