Centre for the History of Ataturk Principles and Reforms founded in 10 July 2001 is one of the affiliated centers to the Rectorate. 

Centre was founded to assist the academic facilities, raise up academic personnel and carry out scientific and cultural activities in this field.

CONFERENCES

-            Our unit organized the 104th Anniversary Commemoration Program of the Çanakkale Victory on March 18, 2019, during which Prof. Dr. Celalettin YAVUZ from the History Department of Istanbul Ayvansaray University gave a conference titled “Çanakkale Spirit and the Turkish Soldier.”

-            In celebration of the 96th anniversary of Republic Day and in memory of the 100th anniversary of the National Struggle, our unit held a conference on October 25, 2019, where Prof. Dr. İhsan Güneş presented a talk titled “The Founding Assembly on the Road to the Republic: The First Grand National Assembly of Turkey (1920-1923).”

-            On July 14, 2020, a conference titled “Coups in Turkey from Past to Present: FETÖ and July 15” was delivered by the director of the center, Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz, as part of the “July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day” Commemoration Events organized by our university. -            On January 30, 2023, as part of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish-Greek Population Exchange, a conference titled “The Struggle for Identity Preservation of Cretan Turks: The 1915 Events” was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Melike Kayam at an event organized by the İçel Arts Club.

-            As part of the events organized by our unit and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences History Department for the 108th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and the 100th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s visit to Mersin, a conference titled “Çanakkale Victory and Atatürk” was delivered by Deputy Director Lecturer Dr. Melike Kayam on March 17, 2023. -          As part of the 95th Anniversary Republic Day Celebration Program, on October 31, 2018, a panel titled “Republic Panel 4: Republic and Philosophy” was held, with panelists Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz, Prof. Dr. Taşkıner Ketenci, and Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Günay.

-            On July 10, 2019, as part of the “July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day” Commemoration Events organized by our university, a panel was held at the Erdemli Municipality Cultural Center in Erdemli, where the center director, Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz, served as a panelist and presented a paper titled “Historical Awareness in the Face of the July 15 Coup Attempt.”

-            On April 22, 2021, our unit organized a panel titled “The First Grand National Assembly of Turkey on its 101st Anniversary” via the Google Meet platform. The panel was moderated by the center director, Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz. During the panel, Assoc. -            At the request of Tarsus University, our unit organized a panel titled “The First Grand National Assembly of Turkey on its 101st Anniversary” via the Google Meet platform on April 21, 2021. The panel was moderated by the center director, Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz. During the panel, Dr. Lecturer Birgül Bozkurt presented a paper titled “From the Association for the Defense of the Rights of Anatolia and Rumelia to the Parliament,” and Lecturer Cafer Yalçın presented “The Parliamentary Government System.”

-            As part of the Republic’s 100th Anniversary celebrations, our unit, in collaboration with the Department of Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution, organized a panel titled “The Republic in its 100th Year” on October 26, 2023. The panel was chaired by the center director, Prof. Dr. Şerife Yorulmaz. Lecturer Şekip Alpsoy presented “The Development of the Concept of National Sovereignty in 100 Years,” Lecturer Cafer Yalçın presented “Government Systems in Turkey from 1920 to the Present,” and Lecturer H. - As part of the celebrations for the 101st anniversary of the founding of our Republic, a panel titled "The Republic in its 101st Year" was organized on October 25, 2024, in collaboration between our unit and the Rectorate’s Department of Atatürk's Principles and History of the Turkish Revolution. The panel was chaired by the center's director, Prof. Dr. Şerife YORULMAZ, and presentations were given by Lecturer Dr. Hasan Kendirci on "The Development of Populist Thought from the Constitutional Monarchy to the Republic" and Lecturer Cafer YALÇIN on "The Turkish Political Revolution: From Monarchy to Republic.
