Çevre sorunlarını önleyebilecek ve çözebilecek bilim, teknoloji ve mühendislik entegrasyonuna sahip öğrenciler yetiştirmek,

      Kendilerini Atatürk ilke ve devrime adamış, laiklik ve Türk Cumhuriyeti'nin temel ilkelerinden taviz vermeyen çalışkan mühendisler yetiştirmektir.

İnisiyatif alan öğrencileri çağdaş, yaratıcı ve pozitif düşünmeye teşvik etmek, üretken ve kaliteli yeni nesiller geliştirmek.

Ülkemizin teknolojik, sosyal ve ekonomik açıdan gelişmesinde yenilikçi, sosyal sorumluluk taşıyan mühendisler yetiştirmek,

İnsanlığın yararına bilgi kendi birikimlerini kullanarak yeni teknolojileri geliştirmek ve yaşamın her düzeyinde yeni ve kalıcı çözümler üretebilmeleri için öğrencileri teşvik etmek.


      Bölümümüz 1993-1994 Eğitim-Öğretim yılından itibaren öğrenci almaya başlamıştır. Bölümde 4 profesör, 3 doçent, 3 yardımcı doçent, 7 araştırma görevlisi, 1 uzman, 2 laboratuar teknisyeni ve 1 sekreter olarak toplam 21 kişi görev yapmaktadır. Eğitim-öğretim programı Mühendislik Fakültesi dersliklerinden bölümümüze ait 3 adet derslikte (MF307, MF308, MF309) ve ortak olan teknik çizim dersliklerinde devam etmektedir. Laboratuar çalışmaları 2003-2004 Eğitim-Öğretim yılından itibaren taşındığımız laboratuarlarımızda sürdürülmektedir. Ayrıca, Enstrümantal Analiz, AAS, Çevre Biyoteknolojisi, Çevre Mikrobiyolojisi, Toprak Kirliliği Kontrolü, İnorganik Katı Atık ,Endüstriyel Atıksu, Çevresel Toksikoloji, Ekoloji, HPLC, Spektrofotometre, GC, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri, Hava Kirliliği ve Kontrolü, Katı Atık, Gürültü Kirliliği ve Kontrolü laboratuvarları gibi araştırma laboratuvarları bulunmaktadır. Araştırma laboratuarlarımızda DPT, TÜBİTAK, BAP ve Özel Sektör destekli proje çalışmaları yürütülmektedir.

Laboratuarlarımız, gerek üniversite araştırma fonunca, gerek proje destekleyicisi kurumlarca ve gerekse de hayırsever kurum ve vatandaşların katkısıyla araç ve gereç yönünden gün geçtikçe daha yeterli hale gelmektedir. Bölümümüzde projelerin yanında yüksek lisans ve doktora tez çalışmaları da yürütülmektedir. Staj uygulamaları hocalarımızın denetiminde laboratuarlarımızda ve özel sektör olanaklarından yararlanılarak yapılmaktadır.

Laboratuarlarımızda ayrıca döner sermaye çalışmaları da gerçekleştirilmektedir. 4 yıllık lisans eğitim-öğretimini tamamlayan mezunlarımız Çevre Mühendisi ünvanı almaktadır. Öğrencilerimize Çevre Mühendisliği alanındaki çalışmalarına yön verecek temel dersler teorik ve uygulamalı olarak verilmekte ayrıca son sınıf öğrencileri Mesleki Yabancı Dil dersi de görebilmektedir. Mezunlarımız Çevre ve Şehircilik, Sağlık, Tarım, Bayındırlık ve İskan Bakanlıkları, İller Bankası, DSİ, Belediyeler, Üniversiteler ve Özel Sektörde çalışabilmekte ve iş olanakları gün geçtikçe artmaktadır.

Bölüm çalışmalarında hedeflenen amaç, öğrencilerimizin bilimsel olarak en iyi şekilde yetişmelerinin sağlanmasının yanında, yüksek lisans ve doktora tez çalışmalarının ve proje çalışmalarının da en verimli şekilde gerçekleştirilmesidir. Bunun yanında öğrencilerimizin kültürel ve sosyal aktivitelerine de destek vermekteyiz.
